India Demand Side Management

This BIJLEE project promotes demand-side management (DSM) policies in Indian states modeled on those that have achieved substantive energy savings in California. LBNL, the California Energy Commission, and the California Public Utilities Commission signed Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) with the regulatory commissions in Maharashtra, Delhi, and the Forum of Regulators (FOR) in March 2009. The MOUs  permit LBNL to work with any of the Indian states in the future. Currently, the project is continuing its work in Maharashtra, Delhi, West Bengal, and Karnataka, and has helped create a Regulatory Multi-State DSM Program (RMSDP) jointly between FOR and (Cross-cutting with Buildings and Industry) and the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE).
